What qualifications do you need?
Applicants must meet minimum requirements for GPA and MCAT scores, take certain college courses, and meet specific skills and citizenship standards. Make sure you've got everything you need before you apply.
The Application Process
The application process has four parts. You must receive an invitation by email to advance to each part of the process after your initial application.
- AACOMAS application — Apply online via the nationwide American Association of Colleges and Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS). Includes:
- Transcripts
- MCAT scores
- Secondary application — More information about yourself and your preferred VCOM campus. Includes:
- Standardized test scores
- Essay questions
- $25 processing fee
- Letter of recommendation
- 1 from a pre-health committee or science faculty member
- Interview — In-person, scheduled between August and April at the VCOM campus that is considering you for placement
Four Campuses, One Application
Our academic curriculum and requirements are the same across each of our locations. As an applicant, you will submit one application to VCOM's central admissions department through AACOMAS, where you will have the option of specifying which campus you prefer. On your secondary application, you will be able to designate other VCOM campuses that you may be interested in. Each applicant will be reviewed by the campus of choice, however, if you have designated other campuses and one of those campuses wishes to interview you, you will be contacted.
When to Apply
The DO program uses a rolling admissions timeline, meaning we fill open positions as we receive applications from qualified candidates — so applying early improves your chances of admission.
We begin receiving applications in early summer, one year before matriculation.
